Bringing the World to Medway 2019
The purpose of the day is to present our students with opportunities to think globally and discover what other countries, communities and personal experiences have to offer them as citizens of the world. Students will learn how our special guests got started and how they rose to the top of their fields, as well as get a taste for the unique aspects of different businesses and organizations. We recognize that our students are being asked to figure out what they want to do with their lives but not really knowing what the options are. The many stories that you provide today will encourage them to thin about their tomorrows.

A fighter pilot, a world champion kickboxer and an international chef are among the 55 individuals who will share their experiences during a unique event at Medway High School next week that will introduce students to a world of career possibilities.
“The purpose of the day is to present our students with opportunities to think globally and discover what other countries, communities and personal experiences have to offer them as citizens of the world,” said Medway Guidance Department Head Laurie Farquharson.
“Students will learn how our special guests got started and how they rose to top of their fields, as well as get a taste for the unique aspects of difference businesses and organizations.”
Among the special guests will be Gordon McBean, Western University emeritus professor who has been outspoken about the dangers of climate change. He has been a long-standing contributor to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an organisation that was jointly awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize together with Al Gore.
Retired RCAF Lt.-Col Steve Will will share his experiences as a fighter pilot, leader of the celebrated Snowbirds flying team, and later as a commercial pilot. His fighter squadron leadership and combat experience has provided him with a unique perspective on leadership and the world.
Former world kickboxing champion Leo Loucks, who was inducted into the London Sports Hall of Fame, will discuss his journey to become one of only two Canadians to hold world titles in the sport and will spar with Chad Laprise whom he is currently coaching.
